1908年（清光绪34年），清政府在南街天上宫（南小旧址）兴办邛州女子两等学堂，这是南街小学的雏形。岁月更迭，时光流转，此校先后更名为邛崃县女子高等小学校、女子简易乡村师范附属小学、川西邛崃师范附属小学，1976年正式命名为南街小学。1978年被评为县重点小学，1981年命名为首批办好的省重点小学。现任校长为王颃。
